International Training Workshop on Sustainable
NTFP Development, China
Date: July-August, 2015
Venue: Hangzhou, Anji and Lin'an, China
Magnidus participated in the month-long workshop which aimed at
the development of and raising awareness about bamboo and other Non
Timber Forest Products (NTFP's). It was jointly hosted by
International Network of Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) and Ministry of
Science and Technology, China (MOST). The theoritical sessions were
led by Prof. Zhu Zhaohua who is a pioneer in the field of bamboo
research in China. Field visits were made to Anji, a city that is
the centre of bamboo industrialisation in the country and to
Lin'an, which is a city thriving on the bamboo shoot
industry.

CSR Conference, New Delhi

Venue: India International Center, New Delhi
Magnidus participated in the CSR conference organised by Sharp Developments and sponsored by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and presented the 'Ecovillage Tengani' project in an attempt to raise funds for the humanitarian project. Several top corporate houses appreciated the initiative and came forward to contribute to this sustainable development project.

Construction Awareness Workshop # 3

The third event of the construction awareness series laid
emphasis on the relevance and importance of building byelaws in our
modern urban environments.

Hands-on Rammed Earth Workshop
Date: 20 March 2014
Venue: Ouguri Village, Tengani
In an attempt to identify a low cost building material in Ecovillage Tengani, Magnidus helped the villagers in exploring rammed earth for construction. Poka Mati (stabilised earth) as they have started calling this technology, was prepared using earth dug out at site and sand from the river flowing next to the site. The tools used during the workshop were very rudimentary and collected from the immediate vicinity.

Construction Awareness Workshop # 2

Venue: CKB Commerce College, Jorhat
The second edition of the Construction Awareness Workshops organized as a joint initiative between Magnidus and BDIPL was successfully concluded at Jorhat. It was attended by several key personalities from Jorhat as well as the general public. The theme of this edition of the workshop was 'Earthquake Resistant buildings and the Importance of Soil Testing'. Key speakers were:

Building with Bamboo Workshop for Children

Venue: Vatika School, Shahpur Village, Sec. 131, Noida
Vidya & Child has been carrying out their Non Formal Education Programmes in several schools in the country including Vatika. Magnidus teamed with them for a one day workshop on bamboo construction. The objective was to design a play structure using bamboo and other recycled materials. Children were taught how to use bamboo and nylon nets, metal canisters, ropes etc. and also how to lay a foundation in the ground.

Construction Awareness Workshop # 1
Date: 25 January 2014
Venue: Jorhat Press Club, Jorhat
Magnidus, in partnership with Baruah Developers and Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (BDIPL), organised a day-long public workshop in Jorhat. It was conducted with the intention of spreading general technical awareness about building construction and related subjects. The workshop was attended by several conscious citizens of Jorhat, including senior engineers, officials of the Jorhat Municipal Corporation, students and general public.
The focus of the workshop was in throwing some light on the importance of following building byelaws, hiring the right consultants, using good quality materials etc. The significance of designing climate responsive buildings was stressed upon. The concept of Green Buildings was also introduced briefly.
